The story

A reckoning carried down to the water

Dennis grew up with a silence between himself and his father. It lasted long enough to feel permanent. Then Okoth asked, plainly and without defence, to be forgiven — and a week later he was gone.

What the family did next is the subject of this film. They walked down to the river. Priscilla went into the water, and so did much of the family that had grown up around that same silence. The film follows what it costs to cross, and what is left on the far bank.

He asked me to forgive him. I did not know it would be the last thing he ever asked me.
